10/23 HS Choir Update

Good Morning,

I hope that everyone had a great weekend! I apologize for my newsletter coming on Monday rather than Friday but the VERY busy week we had bled into the weekend as well.

First, I want to thank everyone who made our first chorus concert of the year a success! I am so pleased with how each of the ensembles sang and can’t wait to start really diving into our music making even more during second quarter.

I also want to congratulate the 6 students selected to participate in Mars HIll Choral Clinic this February. Ellie Dare, Ella Griffin, Hallie McCagg, WIlliam Pearson, Omar Valentin and Aniyah Vines.

Lastly, I spent Friday and Saturday with CMS High School Honors chorus and our incredible clinician Brad Benson. The students represented NWSA Choral program very well and I think they had a wonderful experience. The music making was lovely!

9-10 All Carolina Auditions: Any student wishing to audition for 9-10 All Carolina select choir, should submit their auditions and money no later than November 1. The fee is $10 to audition. If selected, your student will be among the elite 9th and 10th grade students who have had the opportunity to participate in this clinic the last weekend of January at Wingate University. Many of these students have later gone on to be a member of Mars HIll Choral Clinic and NC Honors Chorus. This is also one of the the attributes taken into consideration for entry into both Mixed and Women’s Chamber Choirs.  For more information, please go to  www.9-10acselect.com

Your student has been informed about this opportunity.

Statements:  Statements will be sent home on the first of the month. Please check for accuracy and remember that Bank of America Payments are delayed!

Bank of America:  If you have not signed up for your shift, they are moving fast. Please remember that if a shift is not worked by your family, you must either pay the chorus fee ($55) or fundraise at least that amount with one of our fundraisers during the year. NONE of that money will go towards the spring trip until the minimum of $110 is earned by your student. Students MUST work with an adult 18 years or older that is NOT a CMS Student. The sign up link is HERE
